Washington Nationals by 2What better way to spend your time than a good old fashioned southpaw showdown at the T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington? Known for generously favoring the pitchers, it's like a little present for hurlers like MacKenzie Gore and Emerson Hancock, the starting pitchers for the Nationals and Mariners respectively.
Let's start with Washington's, Gore, who has 3.52 runs scored on him per nine innings. Honestly, his math teacher would probably be proud. He also hands out strikeouts like they're candy on Halloween, with an impressive 13.6 K/9 rate. On the other side of the diamond, we have Hancock. I'll be polite and say his stats are... well, at least he's consistently on the field.
Anyhow, let's not ignore the dynamos on the field. The Nationals boast Amed Rosario, with a hefty .364 batting average, and James Wood having a solid .317 batting average so far. As for home runs, Wood has cemented his power-house status with seven home runs.
The Mariners have their own share of spotlight hogs. Cal Raleigh is hitting .292 and has knocked 9 balls out of the park. Julio Rodriguez is holding his own with a .286 BA and six homers.
Take a flashback to their previous encounters, and you'll see some crazy see-saw games, with the Nationals leading the head-to-head. Looking at their overall records, the Mariners have the upper hand, but don't pop the champagne yet. The recent results show both teams significantly inconsistent.
