A keen matchup awaits us with the Boston Red Sox setting foot in the home arena of the Atlanta Braves, the Truist Park. Speaking of the park, the well-informed among you might know its reputation for, basically, being as neutral as Switzerland because it neither favors batters nor pitchers appreciably.
Armored with Walker Buehler and his 4.02 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 8.0 K/9 from the mound, the Red Sox are gunning to make their mark. Then again, Aroldis Chapman is out there being an anomaly with his so far immaculate figures, while Rafael Devers scares pitchers with his lethal .367 batting average, 35 RBIs, and 8 home runs.
Switching over to Braves' side, we have Spencer Schwellenbach taking the mound. He's been holding firm with a 3.61 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and an 8.0 K/9 average this season. Add into the mix the likes of Drake Baldwin swinging a .385, Austin Riley proving to be versatile across the plate, and the homerun power of Matt Olson, things won't be a walk in the park for Red Sox.
Panning out from the season, it looks like a tit-for-tat scenario between these two. The Braves bested Red Sox thrice in their last five encounters but, interestingly enough, Red Sox gave them a thumping just recently. As for the overall performance, well, let's just say, we've seen better records than Red Sox's 27-31 and Braves' 26-29 this regular season.
Now, if we take the recent games into account, the Red Sox might have hit a couple of bumps on their way here, losing three of their last five games, while the Braves haven't been covering themselves in glory either with a similar setback in their last outings.
Weighing all this down and crunching it up with some digits, I'd say the Braves seem to have a slight advantage, underscore the word "slight". But don't take my word for it. Alright, it's prediction time, my favorite!
