North Carolina State Wolfpack by 3
Oh, look at this magnificent fight of the titans! We've got the North Carolina State Wolfpack gearing up against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Oh, the tension in the air, you could cut it with a butter knife! Well, you'll need more than that for these guys.
Without a surprise, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are the favorites based on those sneaky little things we call odds. As the old saying goes, the house always wins, right? Moving on, both teams have an equal standing in terms of their regular season records with five wins, four losses. It's kind of like watching one of those old western movies where the bad guy and the good guy are standing in the middle of the town, preparing for the showdown.
Taking a gander at the recent results paints us a sad picture for the Wolfpack, with losses more frequent than holiday sales at a thrift shop. The Yellow Jackets on the other hand have had a mixed bag of wins and losses. And let's face it, folks, they've had a few stumbles (looking at you, Notre Dame Fighting Irish game).
The most important players on the field, the quarterbacks (obviously, I'm slightly biased), seem to have had a slightly more favorable month for the Wolfpack side. The Yellow Jackets, well, they haven’t exactly had a memorable time, what with Zach Pyron’s dubious place in the winner's circle, joined by Haynes King. Let's not forget the Wolfpack's Cedrick Bailey. With eight touchdowns and only two interceptions, he's been keeping things tight like your Uncle Ned's fanny pack.
Looking at the grunt workers of the game, the offensive players, the Wolfpack has Daylan Smothers who accumulated 334 total yards, followed by Justin Joly managing to snatch 252 total yards. Yellow Jackets have Jamal Haynes with 337 total yards, the man's practically a one-man army (there's a military joke somewhere in there).
But, as the coaches never tire of saying, football’s not only about charging forward. Let’s see some defense here! Kamal Bonner and Devon Betty of the Wolfpack share almost 50 tackles between them. Meanwhile, Trenilyas Tatum and Kyle Efford of Yellow Jackets continue the age-old tradition of showing how it's done with 36 tackles combined.
Given all this analysis (thank me later for saving you from thumbing through the stats), I'm leaning towards the Wolfpack. Maybe they'll trip the Yellow Jackets up with, I don't know, a mistimed shoelace or something. Call it fate, call it the alignment of the stars (or maybe just the stats), but...
