New York Yankees by 2And here we find ourselves, a proverbial clash of titans - the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves. Now, observing the match-up coming up at Truist Park in Atlanta, there's quite a bit to digest.
So let's glance at the starting pitchers. The Yankees are rolling with Will "Wild Thing" Warren. He's been clocking in a 4.62 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and a good number of strikeouts. Contrasting that, the Braves are calling in Joey "Whip 'Em Good" Wentz, with his hefty 7.13 ERA and weighty 1.86 WHIP. Based on those stats alone, we can hear the collective groan from the Atlanta fan base.
Now, don't count the Braves out yet. They've got some respectable bats at their disposal. Matt "Powerhouse" Olson and Ronald "Rocket Man" Acuna Jr. have been holding their own, Olsen with a batting average of .301 and Acuna Jr. at .276. Though the Yankee's Cody "Belly Bomber" Bellinger has been turning heads with that .366 average.
Looking to the history between these two, the Braves seem to have the Yankees' number. The last five games they've played, Atlanta has got some decisive wins. And even though the Yankees are in a better shape right now with a 53-43 season record to Atlanta's 42-53, past performance is not always a surefire guarantee of future results.
Lastly, recent form isn't a bursting ray of sunshine for either team. But the Braves have shown some guts against St. Louis and took a recent game from the Yankees.
Despite Atlanta’s last win, the statistics lean toward the Yankees. In this high stakes game of baseball roulette, I'd bet on Bellinger and his gang.
