Cleveland Guardians by 2Ready to rumble? We have the Orioles taking a trip to Progressive Field, facing off the Guardians who must be feeling quite at home. Taking the mound for the Orioles is Tomoyuki Sugano, with Tanner Bibee fielding for the Guardians. Now Bibee's stats this season - a 4.32 ERA and 1.25 WHIP make me slightly nervous, but Sugano doesn't seem too far off either with his 4.58 ERA and 1.32 WHIP.
Take the Orioles into account, we have Jordan Westburg firing on all cylinders, smacking a 0.298 batting average and 7 RBIs, not so far behind him is Ramon Laureano with his trusty 0.287 batting average and 14 RBIs. Switching teams, Martinez of the Guardians has been squaring up with 0.262 batting average and 13 RBIs, and Ramirez, though his batting average is a slightly abysmal 0.226, the man has been running up a storm with 9 stolen bases.
Looking at previous run-ins between these two, we see a mixed bag, with not-so-recent history favoring the Orioles. On the other hand, recent results present a cheering picture for the Guardians, who've been holding their own.
Sure the Orioles have surprised us on a few game nights, but their 44-54 record has me rather skeptically arching an eyebrow. The Guardians, though not astonishing with a 48-50 record, seem to be going with a tad more momentum into this face-off.
