Well, well, well, we got ourselves a real nugget of a match here folks between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Colorado Rockies, coming to you from the home run haven that is Coors Field in Denver.
The Cardinals look poised with their starting pitcher, Mike McGreevy, who's been keeping things explosive on the mound - maybe too explosive if you ask me, with a 5.92 ERA. On the other side, Austin Gomber stands atop the hill for the Rockies, producing much of the same theatrics with a 5.89 ERA. It's like watching two people argue over who the real Matlock is.
As for the batters going around in circles, the Cardinals boast Jose Fermin and Yohel Pozo, both hitting over .300 on the season. While Alec Burleson and Brendan Donovan certainly haven't found their swing groove, they do appear capable of swatting a few out of the park. And let’s be honest, given the past discounts at the homerun derby that is Coors Field, that's not such a bad thing.
The Rockies' roster at the plate is not too shabby either, featuring Tyler Freeman who seems to have his own arterial roads around the bases with six stolen bases, and Mickey Moniak, whose .354 batting average must look pretty good to Rockies fans, considering their recent win record.
Past matchups show both teams have been playing musical chairs with victories, but the Cardinals hold a slight upper hand - kind of like holding a sandwich, with a couple more bites in it.
This season's records are favoring the Cardinals as well, and quite heavily, I might add. It's almost like the Rockies haven't quite adjusted their clocks yet. Their recent results don't exactly inspire a motivational poster either.
On the other side, St. Louis hasn’t been sending any thank you notes to Arizona recently after their series defeat, but coming home boasts a comforting thought.
With everything taken into the tortilla wrap of analysis, I'm gonna have to give the nod to the Cardinals here. Anything else would be like betting the soup at a steakhouse is going to outperform the ribeye.
