New York Mets by 3Let's talk shop on this enthralling match-up between the mighty New York Mets playing host to the Washington Nationals. We find ourselves at the pitcher-friendly Citi Field in Queens where the crack of the bat might sound a bit muffled today.
Our boys on the mound are no slouches either. MacKenzie Gore for the Nationals, with his eyebrow-raising K/9 of 13.1 and the equally competent Griffin Canning for the Mets, both of whom have sub-3 ERA's this season.
Moving on to the offensive brass, hailing from D.C we have the likes of Luis Garcia and James Wood carrying the offensive load and making the pitchers sweat just a tad bit more. On the other hand, Mets' Starling Marte has been terrorizing pitchers with a .319 average, and who can ignore Pete Alonso and his impressive 27 RBIs and 8 homers to his name?
Rumination on previous face-offs between these two teams indicates a bit of a ping-pong sequence. A definite edge to scoop up for the Mets, especially while we call Citi Field home for the match.
