San Francisco Giants by 6
Ah yes, the somewhat rarefied air of Coors Field, Denver, embracing our very own San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies in an entertaining rivalry. Starting at the mound, Giants are leaning into their fortunate son, Kyle Harrison, whose confidence is backed up by a 4.45 ERA and 9.4 K/9 from 7 appearances this regular season. Now enter Rockies’ pitcher, Carson Palmquist. You know, the one with an 8.84 ERA and 7.3 K/9 from four games. I'm not saying he's a liability, but I'm also not not saying it.
Now for the guys swinging the sticks. Heliot Ramos, Matt Chapman, and Wilmer Flores are carrying the Giants on their backs, especially Ramos, who's practically a homerun vending machine. Meanwhile, the Rockies have Tyler Freeman, Hunter Goodman, and Jordan Beck squaring up at the plate, Freeman with a batting average that would almost be heavyweight if this was boxing.
Turn your eyes to the rich history of past skirmishes. The Giants have emerged victorious four of the last five times these two have gone head-to-head. But remember, past results don't guarantee future outcomes, or so my stockbroker tells me.
Also, while we're on the record - let's talk about the regular-season records. Giants 38 wins to 28 losses. Rockies 12 wins to... (let's take a moment here...) 53 losses. I'm no mathemagician, but it does appear in the win-loss column, the Giants have the upper hand.
Recently, the Giants have had one heck of a tea party - they've been parading victories in their last five games. The Rockies, on the other hand, have been in a slugfest with the New York team yielding less than favorable results- it's almost like they're allergic to winning.
In my ever so humble opinion, unless the Rockies have some sort of revelation or the Giants decide to play blindfolded, we’re looking at a pretty clear picture.
