Looking at the teams lined up, the Yankees are set to take on the Royals in a battle in Kauffman Stadium, a familiar battleground that's been kissed by the bat more times than grandma at a family reunion - gotta love that Park Factor.
The Yankees are shifting the gears with Will Warren on the mound. The man's season has been on both sides of the spectrum with a 5.24 ERA and a K/9 of 12.3. Definitely has some heat under the collar, needs a better WHIP though. On the other hand, the Royals are relying on Seth Lugo, who despite his higher WHIP compared to Warren, has a far more impressive ERA of 3.58. That whip of Lugo might make Warren's look like a bunch of uncooked spaghetti.
On the Yankees' side, you're looking at the three musketeers of baseball. Judge, Bellinger, and Wells all swinging with impressive averages and runs under their belt. The Royals, however, aren't exactly running empty either. Pasquantino, Garcia, and Perez have some impressive batting averages, but let's be honest, they're just not packing the same punch.
In the last few matchups, Yankees have been lacing up their boots and kicking some royal backside, with a streak of wins that'd impress even the most diehard Yankees doubter. When it comes to their season record, the Yankees are maintaining a steady sail with 40 wins to 25 losses whereas the Royals, still wavering a bit, have 34 wins chalked up against 33 losses.
Looking at the recent results, the Yankees have had a couple of bumps. They’ve lost twice against the Boston Red Sox, but their games against the Royals were pure domination. The Royals, on the other hand, haven't exactly been bringing home the bacon either with only a single win in their last five games.
Bringing all of this together, my prediction crystal ball sees a surprise win on the horizon for the Royals, but with the smallest of margins.
Albert’s Prediction: Kansas City Royals by 1.
