Here we are, preparing for a thrilling matchup between the Miami Marlins and the Pittsburgh Pirates on the good ol' PNC Park, and if you've been following the figures, you'll know that the hitters have been having a field day on this diamond.
The Marlins are going to send Sandy Alcantara to the mound - not exactly who you'd want to see if you're a Miami fan this season. Eight plus ERA? Yikes. On the flip side, the Pirates are hoping Mitch Keller and his decent ERA keep them above water.
Miami, despite its struggles, does have some heavy hitters. Xavier Edwards and Liam Hicks have been making their bats talk with impressive averages on the season. On the other hand, the Pirates, though not as flashy, have admirable solidity in their ranks, courtesy of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Adam Frazier.
Looking back at their history, these two teams have been dancing closely on the scorecards. The Pirates did come out on top on their last face-off, scoring a smorgasbord of runs. However, both teams have been having a pretty "unsparkling" Regular Season, with the Pirates slightly less terrible, somewhat similar to choosing between a cold shower and a lukewarm one.
The Marlins have been on a downward spiral recently, while the Pirates have been pulling out wins, albeit by a whisker. Keeps things interesting, doesn't it?
So, stitch all that together and who are we favoring? Drumroll...
