If you're falling asleep out there, don't worry, I'm here. We're talking Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals, and there's something cooking here, and it's not my Aunt Millie's famous chili.
First off, let's talk about our starting pitchers. Patrick Corbin will be on the mound for the Rangers, boasting a regular season ERA of 3.83 and a WHIP of 1.30. Solid stats, if you ask me. Now, the Nationals will be shouldering their hopes on Mike Soroka. The man's got a heftier ERA of 5.94 this season – not exactly the stat you want to brag about at the local pub.
The Rangers have a trio of rascals that have been causing chaos lately - Jake Burger, Josh Jung and Wyatt Langford. Their names sound like they'd fit better in a Wild West movie than a baseball diamond, but hey, the West was won with a bat not a gun.
Heading over to the Nationals, Amed Rosario, Luis Garcia, and James Wood pack a punch. Rosario's batting .394 this season – almost makes me want to put the mask back on and step up to the mound. Almost.
Keeping in mind the past seasons, the Rangers had the upper hand in the head-to-heads, taking 3 out of 5 games. However, recently they've been playing as if they've swapped their gloves for buttered popcorn--losing 3 out of their last 5 games. The Nationals aren't faring much better, with a recent scorecard resembling a zigzag of wins and losses.
All this takes place at Nationals Park - a field said to be as friendly to pitchers as my recliner is to me. How this will play out, we're just about to see.
