San Francisco Giants by 2
Okay, let's put on our prediction hats, and not, might I disclaim, our fortune teller turbans, because that's clearly some other channel's gimmick. We're looking at the Atlanta Braves heading to the portentous Oracle Park to face off against the San Francisco Giants.
Starting us off on the mound for Atlanta, we got Spencer 'I-pitch-better-than-I-spell' Schwellenbach. The kid's made 12 appearances exhibiting a not-so-shoddy 3.31 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. Lines up fair against the Giants' own Hayden Birdsong, whose whip-like pitching secured a lower ERA at 2.65 with that 1.26 WHIP in his 14 appearances. So, grab your popcorn folks, pitchers' duel forecast incoming.
Now swinging the bat for Atlanta, we got a few big names. Matt 'One-Hit-Will-Do' Olson is pulling .252 but with 16 RBIs and a septet of home runs but honestly, my granny could probably run bases faster. Not to be outdone though, Ronald Acuna Jr. and the rest of the Braves' lineup are driving in some serious plays despite their lackluster chase-around-the-bases performance.
The boys from San Francisco aren't just standing around twiddling their thumbs though. We got Ramos with a sterling .346 average and 21 RBIs amid their lineup - obvious contender for the MVP of thumb-twiddlers. Watch out for Matt 'Chappie' Chapman as well - the man's nabbed a .293 average and ain't afraid of swiping some bases.
If we're thumbing through the history books, Atlanta and San Francisco had a bit of a tight dance the last couple of meetings. Giants did manage a dominant 6-0 win, but the Braves fired right back with a 13-2 victory - a game I think the Giants' defence might've been stuck in Bay Area traffic. The dialectical dance continued, each sharing the spoils, with the Braves edging out with the most recent 1-0 victory.
Traveling down the stats highway, Brave's current form is a bit of a gory horror show with more Ls than they'd want showing up in their log. Over on happier lands, the Giants have been riding a high on their current form and are sitting pretty with a superior regular season record.
But like I always say, sports ain't done in the history books, it's happening on the field right now. So, after all these data gymnastics and balancing factors on the tip of my sporty pen, I announce:
