Kansas City Royals by 1Ah, an intriguing matchup we have on our hands, folks. The Kansas City Royals are over at Busch Stadium tonight, home turf to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Royals' pitcher Noah Cameron has certainly been the talk of the town recently, with his stunning 1.10 ERA, and 0.86 WHIP. The guy has only made four appearances this season, so it'll be interesting to see how he holds up. On the other hand, we have the Cardinals' pitcher, Miles Mikolas, who hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire with his 4.02 ERA.
Now let's talk hitters. Vinnie Pasquantino and Kyle Isbel have been pulling their weight for the Royals, with batting averages of 0.349 and 0.345 respectively. Pay attention to Bobby Witt Jr., his last season stats show he's a threat on the bases with 11 steals. The Cardinals will counter with Alec Burleson and Ivan Herrera, both keeping their average above 0.30. Nolan Arenado's batting average seems a bit on the lower side, but never underestimate a seasoned player like him.
When we look at their previous meetups, there are some classics in there. The last one ended up with the Royals' thrilling win of 10-7 recently on June 3rd. Their regular season records are closely matched, with the Royals sitting at 32-29, while the Cardinals are slightly ahead with 33-27.
Considering recent form, Kansas City pulled off a triumphant win against St. Louis and have a 3-2 win-loss record in the last 5 games. The Cardinals, however, struggled in their last set of games having lost to Texas twice and to the Royals while maintaining a 2-3 win-loss record in the last 5 games.
While it's going to be somewhat of a nailbiter, taking everything into account, I'd reckon the Royals have a slight edge.
