Tampa Bay Rays by 3Alright, I hope you're all settled in because we’ve got the Miami Marlins facing off against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, and let me tell you, hitters don't have it easy in this park. You may want to pay attention to that - all you home run junkies might be out of luck tonight.
We've got Edward Cabrera stepping up to the mound for the Marlins with a decent ERA this season at 4.32, and his Strikeouts-per-nine-innings isn't too shabby either at 9.9 across nine appearances. But Zach Littell of Tampa Bay seems a touch sharper with a 3.76 ERA and he's notchulated, yes, that’s a term I use, his own share of appearances, too.
As for the gentlemen gripping the sticks, Miami boasts players like Xavier Edwards with his tremendous .378 batting average and Liam Hicks putting up some responsible numbers last season with a .351 batting average and reasonable power - 7 RBIs and 3 homers. But don't count Tampa out of the headline news anytime soon. Jonathan Aranda is hitting a robust .326 with 15 RBIs while Brandon Lowe seems to be acquiring a fondness for clearing the fence, racking up 8 home runs.
Looking at the history books, these teams have given us a fair share of see-saw action. They're about as predictable as a blindfolded cat trying to catch a laser pointer.
Evaluating the season records, the Rays are tending to business better than the Marlins and recent results appear to be painting a similar picture.
So, here comes the moment of truth. Look into my eyes... or ears, and behold my sage wisdom.
