Arizona Diamondbacks by 2
A little birdie tells me that the Arizona Diamondbacks have left their desert dwellings to drop in on the Miami Marlins at the loanDepot Park. Gotta love the change of scenery; let's hope it doesn't throw them off their game.
On the mound for the Diamondbacks, we've got Merrill Kelly. A quick glance at his stats tells you he's got an ERA that's about as high as my golf handicap. In contrast, the Marlins are pulling Connor Gillispie out of the aquarium. The poor lad may be a fish out of water, but with his considerably lower ERA he might just swim his way to the top.
Besides the pitchers, let's consider the other talent out there. The Diamondbacks have Pavin Smith bopping a .361 which is sure to knock some sand out of their boots. With Alek Thomas and Corbin Carroll also sporting impressive stats, it seems like these reptiles are ready to rumble. The Marlins, meanwhile, mostly have a krill of a time, except for the likes of Griffin Conine, who seems to be enjoying a well-deserved shrimp cocktail.
When it comes to the clash of titans, the previous skirmishes between these two forces show a slight edge for the Diamondbacks. Well, less edge and more a full scale incline when it comes to past performance.
With both teams having a decent start to the season and relatively balanced recent results, it's no cakewalk for either side. However, the Diamondbacks might just have the upper hand, even if only by the skin of their teeth.
