Despite the Kansas City Royals favored by quite a bit in the ol' mathematics, and being in possession of that marauding Cole Ragans with his dreadful 2.33 ERA, I still have a tingling feeling for the Detroit Tigers at their home stadium. Comerica Park can be quite brutal for batters, and let's trust the wisdom of Mother Nature that the park influences the game a bit more favorably for our pitcher pals.
Speaking of pitchers, the Tigers have Jackson Jobe on the mound and that boy has been like a magic potion, holding down a solid 3.00 ERA. While Jobe's strikeout rate isn't quite as impressive as Ragans', the young man has a talent for turning adversity into opportunity.
Just for kicks, let's talk about the lumberyard now. The Royals certainly have a pack of sluggers with Bobby Witt Jr. and Maikel Garcia, both of whom have been dropping apples in the bucket quite well, with only Witt boasting some season-speed with 5 stolen bases.
Then there's the Tigers, now don't get me started there. Gleyber Torres and Spencer Torkelson are just flat-out raking out there. Torkelson is untamed, wreaking havoc with his 16 RBIs and 6 homers, and trust me folks, Comerica Park’s dimensions won't be helping the pitchers today.
Looking in the rearview mirror, the past matchups seem to be leaning slightly in favor of the Tigers, as they indeed have extracted more victories out of their previous rendezvous.
At this point in the season, it's kind of like comparing apples to slightly less shiny apples. Yes, the Tigers have a better win-loss ratio but remember, the Royals are on the prowl and have shown they have the heart of a lion...or, well, a Royal.
So, buckle up folks, it's going to be a fascinating contest, but given the Tigers’ home advantage, recent successes against the Royals and slightly squeaky-cleaner form, I sense a slight edge. Therefore, using my crystal ball and secret sauce of intuition I'm gonna take the plunge and make a prediction:
Albert’s Prediction: Detroit Tigers by 2
