New York Mets by 3Make some popcorn and hunker down. This will be a sporting fiesta! New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals are lining up for a showdown at the pitcher-friendly Citi Field in Queens, NY.
Let's meet our duelists, shall we? In the red corner, Miles Mikolas for the Cardinals is stepping up to the mound. With an ERA that's inching towards double digits, I wouldn't be surprised if his own shadow's out to get him. On the other hand, the Mets are trusting David Peterson, who's been absolutely stellar this season.
Now, the Catherine Wheel of the Cardinals lineup, Brendan Donovan, is on a hot streak, Lars Nootbaar and Luken Baker are holding up their end of the fort as well. But the Mets are not to be outdone, what with Pete Alonso flashing his bat like Thor's hammer, and Luisangel Acuna darting between bases like a hare on fire!
Having pored over the past match-ups between these canaries, the Mets have made a habit out of handing out free lessons to the Cardinals. The Mets have pocketed 5 victories to 0. Not. Even. Close.
