New York Yankees by 2Well, ladies and gentlemen, here's a rivalry that needs no dressing up! The New York Yankees are lacing up to take on the Tampa Bay Rays at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Now, Tropicana Field tends to be a bit stingy with how much it gives to the batters, but hey, that's just icing on the cake for some good old baseball drama, isn't it?
Starting on the mound for the Bronx Bombers, we have Carlos Rodon. Now, Carlos has had a rough season, sporting a 5.65 ERA in just 4 appearances. On the opposite side, the Rays are presenting Drew Rasmussen, who's currently blowing bubbles with an ERA of just 0.60 in 3 appearances. I'm not mathematician folks, but I think Rasmussen might have the cooler head here.
The Yankees are bringing out their big guns with Aaron Judge, who has been knocking it out of the park with a .400 batting average, 7 home runs, and 22 RBIs. They've also got Paul Goldschmidt, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Anthony Volpe. They're quite a quartet, even if Chisholm and Volpe might have seen better days.
Over in the other side of the field, the Rays aren't left wanting for talent. Bagging quite impressive stats, Kameron Misner, Jonathan Aranda, and Junior Caminero are sure to keep their opposition on their toes, putting up quite the show.
Let's not forget the history of these two teams. The Yankees seem to carry a slight edge, taking 3 out of the last 5 games. However, their last stint at the Tropicana resulted in a rather one-sided affair.
But still, numbers from the past season do hint that Yankees are having a somewhat smoother run with a 11-7 record while the Rays trail behind a bit with an 8-10 record.
If you weigh in the recent results, Yankees are looking good with 4 out of the last 5 games having swung in their favor. Meanwhile, the Rays seem to be trying to catch some of their tailwind, with only 2 out of their last 5 ending with them on top.
