New York Yankees by 3Oh, look at this majestic face-off, fans. The Kansas City Royals versus the New York Yankees at the legendary Yankee Stadium. We've got ourselves quite a matchup!
Hold on to your nachos and check out our starters. The Royals have Kris Bubic on the mound. Decent numbers this season, holding a 1.48 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP in just 3 appearances – not half bad. On the other side, we've got the Yankees' golden boy, Clarke Schmidt. His numbers? A perfect 0.00 ERA and WHIP this season, although he has not had any appearances so far. However, his previous season was impressive with a 2.953 ERA and 1.227 WHIP over 16 appearances. His playoff performance was less stellar though. In sports, however, inconsistency is the only consistent thing, isn’t it?
Now let's have a gander at the top talent on deck. For the Royals, we've got Bobby Witt Jr. swinging a hot bat, followed by Maikel Garcia. Solid players, but they haven't exactly been lighting fireworks recently. New York, on the other hand, is packing Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt. Judge has an incredible .381 batting average while Goldschmidt comes in with a .349 average. They've been on a grand tour of the bases lately!
Now, permit me to hop into my time machine for a moment and take a look at the history between these two teams. Seems like the Yankees have had the upper hand in recent match-ups. The same holds for the regular season record with the Yankees sporting a 10-7 record compared to the Royals' 8-10.
When it comes to their most recent soirees, the Royals were beaten by the Yankees twice. Prior to that, they had a mixed bag of results against Cleveland. The Yankees, on the other hand, had some hiccups against San Francisco but held their own against our Royals.
Taking all of these mouthwatering details into account – and minding my instinct that the Yankee Stadium tends to favour the home team – allow me to drumroll into my prediction...
