Alexandrova in straight sets.Despite the deck seeming stacked against Polina Kudermetova, unseeded and seemingly under an Alexandrova shaped cloud, I'd advise caution before handing the crown over. Yes, Ekaterina Alexandrova, she of the 20th seed, might have a spell of being a little hit or miss recently. Our good friends at whichever establishment is determining the odds have her as the favorite, but don't ignore that Polina has a history of making her eat a little bit of clay, metaphorically speaking.
Remember the ides of September 2024? Yeah, Polina does, as she snatched a tidy little 2 sets to 0 victory, making Alexandrova look about as effective as a chocolate teapot. However, Polina has been on a rollercoaster recently, with as much downs as there are ups making it more spine chilling than a walk in a dark alley. She's both a hurricane and a soft wind.
On the other hand, Alexandrova has been playing with all the consistency of a broken metronome, but occasionally the pendulum does swing in the right direction.
