My Prediction
Muchova in straight sets.Looking at this matchup, we can see Karolina Muchova, ranked 15th in this tournament, squaring off against the unseeded Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Now, Muchova has been showing signs of a rather interesting trajectory, folks. Despite a hitch in her recent game against Tauson, let's not forget the string of triumphant volleys that preceded it, shall we? Cîrstea, Kessler, Raducanu and Lamens were all left in the dust at her blistering serves.
On the other side of the net, you've got Cocciaretto who, despite a spirited game, appears to be stumbling a bit. Yes, she sent Zarazúa packing with a neat little set but the scoreboard hasn't exactly been singing her praises of late, with back-to-back losses against Linette and Bronzetti.
Now, Cocciaretto may surprise, she doesn't lack for spirit. But, with a ranking that's playing a solo version of hide and seek, and recent form that would make a yo-yo seem stable, I'd say that's more a flight of fancy than a bankable fact.
Betting on tennis isn't like playing a set, you see. You bet your hard-earned money, not points. So if I were a betting man, and mind you - in a parallel universe where predictions owe no salary, I'd tilt my hat to the notion of Muchova leaving her Italian opponent in the dust.
