Southern Methodist Mustangs by 20
If you're a betting sort, then you probably already know where I'm going with this one. Southern Methodist Mustangs are looking rosy as the scent of roses on a valentine's date. You've got Kevin Jennings tossing the pigskin with more efficiency than a government office, with 5 TDs, 1 INT and 812 passing yards in the last month. Compare that to Stanford's Ashton Daniels, with his paltry 2 TDs, 5 INTs and 323 passing yards. It feels like comparing a Ferrari to a moped, doesn't it?
Offensive miracles don't end there for the Mustangs either. Meet Brashard Smith, a receiver who decided becoming a total yards monster with 495 total yards and 5 total TDs last month was his calling, and Roderick Daniels who's been playing some good football too. Stanford's Elic Ayomanor and Ismael Cisse could take a few notes from their counterparts on this.
And oh, don't get me started on defense. Smell what the Mustangs are cooking with Kobe Wilson dominating the scene with 28 tackles last month. Stanford's Tristan Sinclair and Scotty Edwards, 13 tackles each last month, they're trying but it's like trying to plug a leak with tissue paper.
Looking at regular season records, Mustangs are showing a neat 5-1, compared to Stanford's mediocre 2-4. Not to mention the recent winning streak for the Mustangs forcing everyone to take notice, while Stanford seems to be more interested in a game of hot potato with their opportunity to win.
Okay, enough with the metaphors. Let's cut to the chase and call this what it is.
