Surely we'll see some sparks flying off the hardwood in the upcoming fray between the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers. Straight from the jump, let's acknowledge that our Pelicans are having a less-than-stellar season, sitting quite uncomfortably in the #14 spot in the Western Conference with a rather up and down kind of record of 17-44, talk about a rollercoaster. Their creep of injuries didn't help much either. But hey, let's not completely hang them out to dry here, Zion Williamson's been taking it to the hole quite impressively with a solid 25.2 points per game in the last month. And let's not forget Trey Murphy III, giving it the old college try, netting 21.1 points per game.
But then, we swing over to the high-flying Los Angeles Lakers, strutting around at the #2 spot in the Western Conference. Their game's been nothing short of a blockbuster show, particularly because of their leading man, LeBron James, who's averaging a neat 28.3 points per game in the recent spell. But brace yourselves, folks, because they too have some walking wounded. Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, both prominent contributors, will reportedly sit this one out. Ah, the drama of it all!
Remember when the past was the past? Well, not in sports it ain't. In their earlier match-ups, the Lakers have been bending the Pelicans most of the time, but let's give the Pelicans some credit, they did manage a very memorable upset on the New Years day of 2024.
Now, this is just an innocent observation here, but the Lakers seem to be enjoying quite the sunny weather lately compared to the Pelicans. So if this game follows the laws of physics, and things in motion tend to stay in motion, this might turn into another Lakers victory parade. So I'm betting my socks on this one,
Albert’s Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers by 9.
