Don't you just get a little tingle of excitement when certain teams face off? No? Just me? Ok. We're about to see the Cleveland Cavaliers, with their shining record of 52-10, crossing swords with the underdogs, the Charlotte Hornets, currently struggling at 14-47 for the season.
Look at the dream team the Cavaliers have assembled: Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Darius Garland. Mitchell has been virtually unstoppable this season, averaging about 23.8 points per game, while Mobley has shown no fear in claiming the paint, with some sturdy performances of 18.1 points per game and a handsome 9.2 rebounds per game in the season. Garland, though he'd likely get stuffed into a locker by a school bully, has shown he can hold his own with 20.7 points per game this season. I say, good for him.
On the other hand, the Hornets. Ironic, because their sting has been a bit lacking recently. LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges have shown some sparks with a commendable game average of 26.2 and 20.3 points respectively for the season, but they could use some help. Will it be Mark Williams? Who knows? That kid's game is as unpredictable as the weather.
Their past encounters have been, well, shall we say, not thrilling. The Cavaliers have been raining on the Hornets' parade 4-1, but who's counting, right?
Their current position in the standings screams more than any color commentator could; with the Cavaliers at #1 in the Eastern Conference, and the Hornets a little further down the ladder at #14. It's like watching a cat play with a mouse. And we all know how that usually ends.
So without further ado, drumroll, please.
