As quiet as it's kept, the Philadelphia 76ers are bringing a motley crew to their game against the Boston Celtics. They're apparently holding auditions for the next Broadway revival of 'Les Misérables.' With a rather wistful 21-40 record, one could only hope they might get a sympathy card out of this season.
Their shining knights Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are certainly a formidable pair, no jest there. The last month saw Embiid averaging 22.5 points per game and Maxey right on his heels with 22.4. They should share a cupcake or something, for that near-perfect harmony.
Boston Celtics are obviously spoon-feeding from Lady Luck's own table with a 43-18 record this season, snug as a bug at #2 in the Eastern Conference. Sure, Jayson Tatum with his flashing 27.3 points per game, and Jaylen Brown at 22.3, have been quite the hosts. Add Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis to that mix, you've got a pretty decent four-course meal of hoops prowess.
History whispers a tale of Boston's 124-104 victory, in what was nearly a basketball version of Waterloo last time these two teams met. And the clouds don't seem to be parting for the 76ers, with recent losses against Minnesota and Portland, while the Celtics split a tie with the Trail Blazers and nabbed a win over Denver.
I'll try not to perpetuate the doom and gloom here but let's face reality, folks. The way things are going, the Celtics could be having quite a feast. And I reckon it might be a heavy one.
Albert’s Prediction: Boston Celtics by 13.
