San Francisco Giants by 2Oh dear, oh dear - we have a classic encounter between two teams that redefine the term 'average'. The Atlanta Braves, nobly led into battle by their starting pitcher Spencer Strider, are taking on the San Francisco Giants. Now, Strider's stats are not doing him any favors, sporting a 5.90 ERA compared to Giants pitcher, Landen Roupp, who's sitting pretty with a 3.52 ERA.
Let's chew the fat about a couple of big names. First up, for the Braves, meet Ronald Acuna Jr. and Drake Baldwin. Swinging for the fences with home run stats that sing, even if their stolen bases record is as empty as my bank account.
Over to the Giants, where Mr. Heliot Ramos and his .356 batting average are making a big noise. Accompanied by one Matt Chapman, who seems to have left his A-game in his other pants this month, but his last season numbers remind us he's not to be sniffed at.
Looking back, these two have tangoed more times than grandma at the senior center disco. The Giants have had the edge in recent rendezvous, but the Braves did put a beat down on them last August.
Peering at this season, Giants seem to have bounced back from last year's spring cleaning with a 37-28 record, while the Braves are having a rough patch in the 27-36 area.
As we take a nostalgic trip down to the recent past, it has not been a sunny stroll in the park for the Braves, while the Giants are just maintaining their sunny San Francisco disposition.
