As we look forward to this scuffle between the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox, let's just say that those of you betting might want to take a long sip of your lattes.
Touching down at Guaranteed Rate Field, where batters feel a little more spring in their step, breezing through this Kansas City lineup is Michael Wacha. With a decent season of 2.96 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 6.7 K/9 over 12 appearances he's far from crumbling but let's just say, a little more fizz wouldn't hurt.
For the White Sox, Adrian Houser is going to hit the mound, and boy, he's been fairly formidable this season, recording an impressive 1.49 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 7.0 K/9 over just three appearances. Not too shabby if I say so myself.
When we talk about powerful horses in the race, the Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino has been lighting it up, shooting fireballs with a 0.355 batting average and 15 RBIs. Fraud-proof Kyle Isbel and Maikel Garcia have also been ticking the boxes, batting 0.322 and 0.304 respectively.
On the other side of balance, the White Sox have Chase Meidroth firing all cylinders with a stable performance of 0.330 batting average and a churning of 6 RBIs. Runners like Miguel Vargas, who has had this season's discovery of extra space on the baseball, prove to be impressive hosts to the party.
On historical terms, the Royals have had a better day in past encounters with the White Sox. The charisma of this season's regular record still shines in favor of the Royals, who are sitting pretty comfy with a 33-31 record, adorably better than the White Sox's 21-43.
If we peek at their recent games, the Royals had their last little stumble against the White Sox themselves but have since managed to partially redeem themselves against St. Louis. It's a nice leap in the right direction at least. The White Sox, despite their victory over the Royals, have been in a turbulent sea, showing a mixed bag of results. But hey, life has a way of throwing surprises, doesn't it?
All this gibberish under consideration, it's time for Albert's prediction. Drum roll please...
