Kansas City Royals by 3Strap yourselves in, here comes another Major League Baseball face off, as the Kansas City Royals go head-to-head with the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field, a place where batters often enjoy a slight advantage.
The Royals are sending Michael Lorenzen to the mound today. He's had a tough go of it this season, rocking a 5.35 ERA with a 1.53 WHIP, striking out 7.8 batters-per-nine-innings over his 12 appearances.
Let's balance this out with Mike Vasil as the starting pitcher for White Sox. This fellow is clearly enjoying a standout season with a 1.97 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 6.6 K/9 over his 18 outings. That's enough to make even the most rabid royal fan a tad nervous.
Feeling the heat in the Royals line-up are Vinnie Pasquantino and Kyle Isbel. Pasquantino's ripping the cover off the ball with a .368 average and 16 RBIs. Isbel's been holding his own with a .317 average, though someone should probably mention that RBIs and homers are also a thing.
Sporting the White Sox colors proudly are Chase Meidroth and Austin Slater. Meidroth’s been turning heads with a .327 batting average, while Austin Slater chips in with a .316 average.
Peering into the rearview mirror from May to June 2025, we see that when these two teams got together, it always felt like Christmas, never short of excitement. Trading off wins, but the Royals managed to pick up a few more along the way.
Checking on the regular season, Royals are sailing with 33 wins and 32 losses, making their way past White Sox with a rather lukewarm 22-43 record.
As for recent performances, our boys in Kansas have been treading water with mixed results. White Sox too, seem to be emulating their mirror image. Clearly, it’s like watching two near-sighted tortoises trying to find each other for a dance.
Factoring all these variables, a little birdie told me to put my bet on...
