My Prediction
St. Louis Cardinals by 2Ah, sports, the universal answer to "I'm bored and have three hours to kill". And today, my dear listeners, we wade into the depths of a rousing game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The showdown happens at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis - a beautiful place better suited for pitchers, just like my Aunt Margaret who throws a mean backyard barbecue.
Representing team Pirates as starting pitcher is Carmen Mlodzinski. Poor kid suffered a bit this season with an ERA of 6.76, to be precise. The Cardinals' pitcher, Miles Mikolas, isn't exactly a deer prancing in the summer woods either with a 4.89 ERA.
In the players' box, Pirates have some hopefuls like Ke'Bryan Hayes and Oneil Cruz. And boy, isn't Cruz a delight. His RBI stands at 14 and he's hit 6 home runs! And then there's our boy Bart - batting average of 0.292 is not too shabby, eh.
But put your hands together for the Cardinals' starting lineup. They have Donovan batting at a whopping 0.373 and Contreras who loves making runs home with 4 to his name. A round of applause, please.
Past games between the two have been a rollercoaster ride. Pirates gave a tough time to the Cardinals last match. But today, we are all curious to see who takes away the win - just like that one uncle at family reunions who always ends up with all the leftovers.
Pittsburgh Pirates aren't exactly having the time of their lives with 12 wins and 23 losses this season. The Cardinals can't start their victory parade just yet either with 15 wins and 19 losses to their name.
Recently, the Pirates have missed the boat more times than they've sailed. The Cardinals were roughed up a bit by New York but ended up victorious in their most recent outings.
In the lottery of sports, every number counts and every play could spell a win or a loss. But I, for one, am willing to bet a jumbo hot dog that the good ol' Cardinals are going to pluck this one from the jaws of victory.
