While it may not be a slugger's paradise, it does have its own Windy City charm. Tonight we are turning our eyes to Colin Rea, on the mound for the Cubs. This season, Colin has been painting corners and frustrating batters with his 1.44 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 8.6 K/9 over 5 appearances.
But pitching ain't the whole game. Cubs' batter's box is Ace kingdom tonight, with Carson Kelly batting a .343 average and Kyle Tucker batting a .333 average and with a total of 24 RBIs and 7 homers, in his recent stride of success. Seiya Suzuki ain't leaving the party early either with most notable .304 batting average.
Now let's change the channel to the Philadelphia Phillies where Taijuan Walker is tossing the ball with a 2.34 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 7.5 K/9, also in a quartet of appearances. Not to be outdone by their Windy City counterparts, the Phillies’ lineup boasts the likes of Edmundo Sosa and Johan Rojas, who are swinging bats like they're in a home run derby with batting average of .438 and .317 respectively. Let's not forget Bryce Harper and his campaign of 14 RBIs and 5 home runs, as he's always a threat in these matchups.
Looking at the last meetings of these two teams, things have been as back and forth as an argument on who gets the last slice of pizza. The most recent encounter had the Phillies on top with a 9-6 win at their home ground. Looking at their performance during regular season, Cubs seems to have got the upper hand with 16 wins against 10 losses.
Phillies’ recent luck has been as twisted as a pretzel with a 3-4 loss to the New York, and more losses piling up while the Cubbies have had a better luck with a couple of victories in their favor.
In terms of a better play tonight, it seems that the Cubs have home field, good recent form, a favorite's hand on the payer's booth, and their own sonic boom, Kyle Tucker, cracking homers beside a pretty solid pitcher in Colin Rea. Philadelphia’s Phi-bois are no pushovers and may throw a surprise punch. However, it seems that sweet home Chicago will likely carry the tune tonight.
