Cleveland Guardians by 2Oh! What a fine day for baseball, my friends! We got the Boston Red Sox strutting their stuff to Progressive Field in Cleveland to face off against the Cleveland Guardians. Let's dig in, shall we?
Boston's hoping pitcher Tanner Houck can pull up his big boy pants today, but with his season ERA of 8.04, it's looking a bit like Swiss cheese in front of the proactive Guardian's line-up. Meanwhile, the Guardians' chosen knight in shining armor is Ben Lively, boasting an ERA of 3.93. Considerably more "lively", wouldn't ya say?
Now let's take a gander at some of the big shots taking the field. Boston's batting order includes ol' reliable Alex Bregman alongside the speedster Trevor Story, whose robust performance last month has been quite a spectacle. Rob Refsnyder's there too, holding his own with a .320 average.
On the other end, Cleveland's got a host of sluggers like Angel Martinez and Steven Kwan, who've been knocking the stuffing out of the ball. And then there's Kyle Manzardo, who despite a bit of a slump, still has a firm RBI count. Jose Ramirez is also in the mix, with his .265 average. Not too shabby!
Looking at past matchups, it appears the Guardians have held a slight edge over the Sox while playing on their home turf. And their regular season performance is a notch above too, approaching this matchup with a healthy 14-10 record as compared to Boston's 14-13.
The Sox's visit to Seattle didn't exactly go as they had hoped, losing twice. Cleveland, on the other hand, handled themselves rather well against New York, delivering a solid performance.
