Okay, let's cut to the chase here folks, er...I mean guests.
The Cincinnati Reds are hoofing it out west to Colorado to face off against the Rockies. I hope the Reds don't get altitude sickness at Coors Field, a place that's known as a hitter's paradise. If baseballs were frequent flyer miles, Coors Field would be your go-to destination.
The Reds have this fella, Andrew Abbott on the mound who has been having quite a season with an impressive 1.64 ERA and 13.1 strikeouts per nine innings. That's freakishly Spielberg-level, folks! Last season, Abbott had a 3.794 ERA and 7.6 strikeout rate, which is below this season's standards, but that man is throwing thunderbolts this year!
But let's not forget about the Colorado Rockies' pitcher Kyle Freeland, who has well...not as impressive stats. Coors Field isn't being friendly to him with a 4.98 ERA, but we give credit where credit is due.
Swinging the lumber for the Reds, we have the trio of Austin Wynns, Gavin Lux, and Elly De La Cruz. Wynns is batting .500 with 11 RBIs and 3 homers, while frankly, you can't ignore Gavin Lux, the man is hotter than a freshly painted firetruck with a .316 average and the ability to steal a base.
On the Rockies' end, we got Brenton Doyle holding the fort, batting .283 with 12 RBIs and 3 homers. Hunter Goodman follows with somewhat less impressive stats but no doubt he's trying his best.
Looking at past meetings, the Reds definitely played Rocky Balboa to the Rockies' Ivan Drago, having an upper hand in the head-to-head record. Keep in mind though, the Rockies' home turf has a history of turning average Joe's into MVP's.
Speaking of records, the team records are raising an eyebrow here. The Reds are struggling a bit with a 12-13 record, but the Rockies are rummaging for wins like a raccoon in a dumpster with a 4-20 record.
Recently, both teams seem to be on a roller coaster ride, which is ironic considering they're both baseball teams, not theme park enthusiasts.
After a rigorous cranking of the numbers, here's the quirk of the biscuit:
