Looking at the major players on the pitchers' mound, we've got German Marquez for Colorado with an unimpressive ERA of 8.77 and a WHIP nearing two. Now, contrast that with Cole Ragans for Kansas City, sporting a 2.65 ERA and a cool WHIP of 1.03. I wouldn’t go so far as to call Marquez a rag-arm, but it's clear Ragans has the upper hand.
Then again, in the batter’s box, we've got solid numbers for Colorado with Nick Martini swinging a .277 average and Hunter Goodman clutching at 8 RBIs. You’d think baseball was a buffet the way Kyle Farmer is hitting. Yet all of this comes up short when we look at Kansas City's lineup. Mark "Canna make it any easier for you" Canha has been on a hitting spree with a .368 batting average. And let's not forget the footloose Bobby Witt Jr., with an average touching .318 and the audacity to steal bases like a grandma stealing sweeteners from a diner counter.
Looking at previous matched dates, it's like watching two bald men fight over a comb. The results are back and forth, which keeps us all on the edge, no doubt.
And let's not forget the regular season records, shall we? Although Kansas City has a modest 10-14 win-loss while Colorado’s 4-18 isn't quite the 'Rockie' mountain, the Royals hold the home-field advantage which makes Kauffman Stadium their version of 'The land of Oz'.
Now, you may or may not place your bets based on my commentary, but don’t say Albert didn’t help you warm your cold feet, my friends.
Albert’s Prediction: Kansas City Royals by 3
