My Prediction
Los Angeles Angels by 2Look, we've got ourselves a matchup here with the Pittsburgh Pirates sailing all the way to the Los Angeles Angels' turf which, between you and me, really seems to favor those who can swing their bats with nothing but sweet baseball-sounding 'crack' glory. The kind of sound that makes you think 'America, yeah!'
On the mound for the Pirates, we've got Carmen Mlodzinski, who, let's be honest, has been seeing balloons instead of baseballs this season with his bloated 7.73 ERA compared to LA's Tyler Anderson's sleek 2.12 ERA.
Pittsburgh's top hitters include Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Joey Bart, keeping heads above water keep the local fans having hope, while the Angels, with Logan O'Hoppe's and one off-form Mr. Mike Trout still command a line-up that brings nightmares to pitchers. Small note folks, Mr. Trout has been in a bit of a slump, so consistency isn't in his dictionary lately.
Digging into the history books, the Pirates apparently remember the way to Angel Stadium as they shut out the Angels 3-0 and 9-3 in their last 2 meet-ups respectively. As for this season, the Pirates are far from smooth sailing with a 10-15 record with the Angels not too far ahead at 11-12.
Recently both teams have been on a rollercoaster ride. The Pirates split their recent games with sterling victories over the Angels but a loss to Cleveland. LA, stinging from the Pirates siege, did manage to salvage some pride with home victories over the San Francisco Giants.
If I were a betting man, I'd tell you to lean towards the Angels, not just because of the celestial implications of their name but because, hey, they've got that home turf edge and that sweet-summer-sound of a cracking bat to boot. But like my ex-wife reminds me constantly, "You're not always right, Albert," so wager wisely.
