My Prediction
Boston Red Sox by 3Alright, here we go. The Seattle Mariners are voyaging down to Fenway Park to face off against the Boston Red Sox. We've got quite the match-up here.
Seattle is placing their faith in starting pitcher Emerson Hancock. Hancock could definitely use a little less adventure in his game, as this season he's racked up a bloaty 13.85 ERA with a 2.50 WHIP. Not the finest, ain't it? If we take a stroll down memory lane though, he was slightly more composed last season, holding a 4.840 ERA with a 1.361 WHIP. They don't appear to be the ideal numbers, but hey, that's what we've got.
For Boston, we've got Sean Newcomb on the mound. This season, Sean's brought his ERA down to 3.84, and is averaging 10.4 K/9, double Hancock's. Seems like he's upgraded from low economy to business class, doesn't he?
On the offensive side for Seattle, Jorge Polanco and Dylan Moore are turning heads with .327 and .300 batting averages, respectively. And Cal Raleigh despite a less than stellar .233 average, has knocked 9 out of the park. Moore has been quite busy on the basepath stealing 5 bases. You've also got the...ahem...'mighty' Randy Arozarena batting a lacklustre .193.
With Boston, the dynamic trio of Rob Refsnyder, Trevor Story, and Alex Bregman have been causing a ruckus with batting averages of .333, .319, and .302 respectively. Power isn’t just for tech companies here; Story and Bregman have racked up 5 and 4 home runs.
Few historical notes, folks. When these teams have matched up in the past, Boston's held the upper hand winning more than they've lost.
Analyzing the recent results for both teams, the Red Sox have tasted victory more often in their recent games. As for the Mariners, their tour of the season has been more of a mixed bag.
As far as the season records go, it’s a bit of a neck-and-neck with Boston leading with 14-11 to Seattle's 12-11. Let me remind you, this is a baseball game, not a horse race!
So, given all that, who do I predict will be laughing all the way to the bank? Well, based on all that jargon I just spewed, I would say:
