Nakashima in straight sets.
Ah, a head-to-head challenge between Brandon Nakashima and Yunchaokete Bu at Wimbledon, totally unseen. You know, when it comes to matchups like these, it's always a roller coaster ride full of unpredictable spins.
Our friend Nakashima sits rather comfortably at seed 29, while Bu is still finding his footing without a seed to his name. And folks, winning in tennis is like dating, in that you definitely don't want to be in love... which is where Bu has unfortunately found himself a little too often on his recent playdates on the court. His track record looking a bit like what my record collection feels like after my ex-wife's garage sale... a bunch of losses.
Nakashima, on the other hand, has been fluctuating a bit, sure as a cucumber in a salad bowl, but he's picked a few wins along the way which is more than can be said for his opponent. And if you believe in patterns and bad Hollywood scripts, the last one he played, he lost to Draper, so following this script, he's next in line for a win.
Bu is certainly the underdog, and underdogs have been known to produce some surprises, but based on recent performances and the tournament seedings, the smart money has got to be on Nakashima.
I mean, unless Bu has some secret weapon like a double-handed, upside down, blindfolded serve, or Nakashima wakes up on the day of the match deciding to play left-handed for fun, it's hard to see Bu finishing any set without being in love. He's looking a bit like that second piece of chocolate cake, tempting but not necessarily the best choice.
With all that being said, I'm putting my hypothetical money on Nakashima, and it’s probably going to be a love-filled day for Bu.
Albert’s Prediction: Nakashima in straight sets.
