Now, when we're looking at this particular match-up on the green fields of Wimbledon, I must say the odds seem all but decided. Stefanos Tsitsipas, our seeded 24 player, seems the likely favorite. He's faced some hard knocks recently, not unlike the time I dropped my crossaint into my coffee - an absolute mess. He lost rather miserably to Michelsen A., Gigante M., and Fils A., which probably gave him enough mood swings to rival a soap opera character. However, he still managed to pull wins from Darderi L. and Etcheverry T.
Now, Valentin Royer is no push-over either. The lad certainly knows how to wield a racket. Despite his unseeded status, his recent track record isn't too shabby, having defeated Droguet T., Uchiyama Y., and Hüsler M. He's had his fair share of losses, sure, just like I have had my fair share of bad haircuts.
However, Royer's recent results give the impression of a man finding his footing, sort of like a newborn deer, albeit substantially less cute. Of course, Tsitsipas' recent losses do hint at a possible chink in his armor, but a seasoned player like him could just be lulling us into a false sense of security.
With all that said, I'm leaning towards our seeded Greek player. His recent slips might raise eyebrows, but you don't get to be 24th seed at Wimbledon by serving like you're swatting at bees. Plus, those who bank on him stand to make a tidy sum. Yes, I'm more conflicted than a vegan at a steakhouse, but I'm going to bet on experience and the strength of Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Albert’s Prediction: Tsitsipas in 4 sets.
