Michelsen in straight sets.
Looking at the stacked deck, it's amusing to think one would even ponder about this match. Alex Michelsen, a thirtieth seed, prepares to take on a player I often compare to a jelly donut, Miomir Kecmanovic - sweet on the outside, but boy can he crumble real fast on the tennis court.
Our dear Miomir has been serving love, and not in a romantic way. His recent record is a menu of losses, barely seasoned with a victory against Baez. Evans, Marozsan, Halys, Rinderknech, all getting the best of him recently. They didn't even offer a mint on the pillow after turning those sets against him.
Across the net, Michelsen seems to have polished his game significantly. Besides a couple of setbacks against Moutet and Medvedev, he's been cracking his opponents like eggs at breakfast. Rinse and repeat performances against Bautista Agut, Holt, and Tsitsipas demonstrate Michelsen's improved prowess. Kinda reminds me of my junior tennis days, minus the talent, heh!
Yeah, yeah, Kecmanovic has had some luck in the past, besting Michelsen once in some forgotten year. But if past victories counted for future wins, my high school football coach would still be trying to fit into his old jersey.
So, taking into account that Michelsen has been hotter than a July barbeque and Kecmanovic's recent form seems to be as cold as my ex-wife's heart, I'd say Michelsen is poised to serve up a tennis clinic.
Albert’s Prediction: Michelsen in straight sets.
