My Prediction
Yokohama DeNA BayStars by 2Ah, the grand symphony of baseball, my dear listeners. We're looking at a match more tense than a long holiday dinner with your in-laws here, the Yokohama DeNA BayStars visiting the Chunichi Dragons. Just like a couple wearing matching outfits, these teams are closely mirrored in their regular season records, BayStars sitting on a respectable 12-14, and the Dragons barely inching ahead with 13-14.
The BayStars however, have been showcasing some peppy play in their recent games. They won against the mighty Swallows twice, showing that they can swoop and score when they orient their beaks in the right direction. Meanwhile, the Dragons spit less fire than expected, having a bit of a hiccup against Hiroshima Carp and only managing to tie against the Hanshin Tigers. Could be indigestion, could be a sign, who knows?
Now, let's walk down the memory lane to Previous Meetville. The Dragons have been doin' a bit of a jig on the BayStars' pride in the past, taking those games by storm. Perhaps, they've got the BayStars' playbook memorized, or maybe, they've just been lucky.
Either way, my gut feeling – which is often confused by my love for ballpark hotdogs – tells me the BayStars are sitting pretty for an upset here. The Dragons might be taking it a little too easy, lounging around in their past victories. But the BayStars have started showing some promise in their recent matches. It’s one of those classic David and Goliath situations, although, in this case, David probably has a better batting average.
But remember, the BayStars are favored, so don't start crying foul if your bets end up in left field. Expect a closer one than a line at the post-game restroom, but with the BayStars sneaking it by a close margin.
