Hanshin Tigers by 2In a turn of events as unforeseen as a penguin at a desert oasis, we're looking at a matchup between the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and the Hanshin Tigers. Now, the Tigers come into this game favored by some, and their past interactions with the Swallows might give you a hint as to why. However, if you're looking at this purely based on which way the cat jumped last Thursday, you might be missing a few keys to the castle.
The Tigers have gotten the better of the Swallows in the most recent encounters, but it's not a one-sided feud. Back in April 2025, the Swallows did manage to ruffle some Tiger's fur, finishing on top twice. Even took a sizable victory back in September 2024, if we're casting the net back that far.
Regular season record makes for interesting reading as well, much like trying to comprehend quantum physics. The Tigers are barely keeping their heads above a .500 record, whereas the Swallows are flapping their wings just to stay afloat.
Nobody would claim the Swallows recent results are inspiring, it's more akin to whistling in a hurricane. But keep in mind, they've experienced a couple of wins in between the strike-outs. The Tigers aren't exactly roaring either, having tasted both sides of victory and defeat recently.
Accounting for this delightful mess, my prediction is the Hanshin Tigers might just have the claws to snatch this one away. Just don't bet your mother-in-law's favorite china set on it.
