The Hawks might be generally favorites and hold the edge in recent head-to-heads, but the Marines shouldn't be written off just yet. They've come out on top in several of their fiery matchups, no doubt are looking to do the same again. Each team has been outpacing the other in alternate periods of the season.
On one hand, Marines could be feeling the heat, not bringing home the bacon recently. They've been sliding down the hill lately, losing two in a row. Meanwhile, the Hawks, while not exactly soaring, they're not falling out of the sky either. A recent series of losses, but those were punctuated by a notably tight cozy game against the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
Factoring the recent form, the Marines might have ulcers, but they ain't done yet. They've clocked up eleven wins to the Hawks' nine in the current season. And you know what they say: what's past is prologue.
If you're laying your money down, it might just be important to remember the tussle that's about to ensue. The Marines won't lay down their arms, nor the Hawks be soft. Does the taste of victory seem sweeter for one over the other? Perhaps. But remember, there's no crying in baseball.
