My Prediction
Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles by 1Ah, the promising clash between the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles and the Chiba Lotte Marines - a combination as delightful as dipping fries in a milkshake, if you haven't tried that, well, you're not missing out on much. Anyway, let's dive right in.
The Golden Eagles might be strutting in like they own the place after their recent slaughter, a whopping 14-3 take down of the Orix Buffaloes you'd think they were predicting the end of the world with that one. However, let's not forget their three past consecutive losses, though. Not exactly the kind of track record you'd want to bring home to your parents, eh?
Meanwhile, by the look of the Marines' recent games, their bats must've developed some type of allergic reaction to the ball. They've dropped five straight. It's almost as if they've started viewing the end zone as some sort of lava pit, tragic... and kind of funny, if you think about it.
Between these two, though, the deciding factor is going to come down to their past clashes. The Eagles currently hold a 3-2 advantage, which is a little like winning the lottery, only to find out it's all in pennies.
In terms of regular season records, both teams look like they could use a hug and a pot of strong coffee. The Eagles at 14-15 do have the slight edge over the Marines, who are floundering at 11-16.
In conclusion, despite their recent stumble, I'm thinking the boys from Rakuten could slip by in this one, thanks to their slighty superior record and historical advantage against the Marines. But bear in mind, folks, it's going to probably be closer than a hamster's sneeze:
