Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks by 2
Oh, would you look at that. We've got a thrilling backyard brawl between the Chiba Lotte Marines and the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. And by thrilling, I mean it's like watching paint dry if recent games are any measure.
Ladies and gents, if history is acting as our crystal ball here, the Marines and the Fukuoka Hawks might as well have square wheels for all they're rolling forward this season. Regular season records are standing at Chiba Lotte Marines 11-15, and Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks 11-16. On merit alone, this is the baseball equivalent of a staring contest.
Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks' recent outings make me question if they swapped their baseball gloves with oven mitts, but hey, they've had some luck managing a couple of shutout victories against the Marines. Meanwhile, the Marines, bless their heart, they've had about as much success as a porcupine in a petting zoo lately, with 4 losses in their last 5 games.
The Hawks seem to find their drive when playing against the Marines, as their recent matchups indicate. Even though their overall scores have been equally mundane this season (imagine my shock), the Hawks come out looking like they've had their morning java when butting heads with the Marines.
But you know what? I'm feeling a smidge more optimistic about Fukuoka's chances. After all, a broken clock is right twice a day, right? And while both teams are digging deep in the trash heap of mediocrity, the Hawks seem to sparkle a tiny bit brighter when against the Marines.
