San Diego Padres by 4I'd love to chew on this match-up like bubblegum, my baseball-lovin' friends. Yeah, we're talking about the mountain match-up at Coors Field with the San Diego Padres taking on the Colorado Rockies.
Here's something to chew on; Padres' starting pitcher, good ol' Stephen Kolek. Yes, Kolek is a different beast this season compared to his last and his current ERA might have you thinking he's achieved reincarnation as an armored tank. The Rockies starter, Sloppy Bradley Blalock, however, is looking a little bit like a leaky faucet, and they play in a bit of a batter's paradise, if you catch what I'm throwing.
Now onto our skilled wielders of the bat and ball. The Padres are packing some hot potatoes with Machado, Arraez, and Tatis Jr., each bringing their own brand of fireworks to the field. The Rockies, on the other hand, have Beck, Goodman, and Toglia, who have been able to bring some thunder of their own. But don't forget to factor in the good ol' wisdom from the past battles these two teams have had.
The records speak volumes now don't they? 23 wins to 13 losses for the Padres and a bit of a downhill ski adventure for the Rockies with a 6-31 record. You got to roll with the punches, and the Padres have been delivering way more uppercuts this season.
Looking to recent results, the Padres have been punching above their weight, with a notable victory over the Rockies, while the Rockies had a tough time climbing out of the losing valley, especially against our dear friends from Detroit.
Considering all this, I’m going to say this: my crystal ball might need a polish, but it's showing me a pretty clear look at this game’s outcome.
