Philadelphia Phillies by 2
Here at Tropicana Field in sunny St. Petersburg, FL, we're gearing up for a big game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays. With both teams packing serious heat, it's sure to be an interesting matchup.
Let's start with the men on the mound. For the Phillies, the magnificent Jesus Luzardo is penciled in as the starting pitcher. His stats for this season are pretty impressive, boasting a 1.97 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and a hefty 10.3 K/9. Now, that's a pitcher who knows how to deliver some heat! On the other side, the Rays are sending Ryan Pepiot to the mound. Half decent, but when you compare his 4.25 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 8.3 K/9 to Luzardo, well, you see where I'm going with this.
The Phillies are certainly not short of talent at the plate. With players like Trea Turner flaunting a .308 batting average, Nicholas Castellanos and his 20 RBIs, or Kyle Schwarber's 8 home runs we're looking at a solid lineup. And let's not forget Bryce Harper, despite his .240 batting average, he's a danger with 5 home runs and 7 stolen bases.
For the Rays, Jonathan Aranda is a shinning beacon with his .309 batting average. Not far behind is Yandy Diaz with a .291 batting average and 5 home runs. Junior Caminero, on the other hand, is someone to keep an eye on.
Inspecting past encounters, the Phillies seem to have a knack for besting the Rays, coming out on top in the previous 5 head-to-head games. Past performance doesn't predict future results, but it doesn't NOT predict them either, if you catch my drift. Taking a peek at their regular-season records, the Phillies lead again with a 20-15 contrasted to the Rays' 16-19.
Finally, judging by recent results, the Phillies seem to be riding pretty high with some impressive wins, whilst the Rays.. well, let's just say they've been on struggle street.
Given all that, I'm compelled to say the Phillies are looking pretty darn good. I'm gonna say Philadelphia to take it, and we won't have to wait too long to see if I'm right.
