Ya know folks, I mean, no folks, we got ourselves an interesting little matchup here. The Cincinnati Reds are moseying on down to Texas to square up against the Houston Astros at the homely haven that is the Minute Maid Park.
Now, theoretically speaking, this place is as neutral as Switzerland when it comes to favoring pitchers or batters. But let's cut straight to the cheddar! Our man from the Reds, Brady Singer, well, he’s made himself more than cosy on the mound this season with a solid ERA of 3.45 and a WHIP of 1.13. Not too shabby, if you ask me.
However, the Astros have a secret weapon, a man of mystery if you will, a certain Lance McCullers Jr. who boasts an impressive and rather baffling ERA of 0. We can't deduce much from his single appearance, but I can tell you, this hombre could be the real deal.
Let's talk heavy hitters. For the Reds, we've got Austin Hays, who is batting a .357 and boasting 13 RBIs along with 5 home runs, not to mention Santiago Espinal who's on fire with a .342 batting average. Reds also got Elly De La Cruz with a .250 batting, 15 RBIs and 3 homers to his name.
The Astros, on another hand, aren't exactly twiddling their thumbs. We've got Jeremy Pena sporting a .324 batting average alongside Jake Meyers at .310. And don't forget Isaac Paredes and Yainer Diaz who are holding their own with 12 RBIs a piece.
Looking back, these two have danced this dance before. Cin Reds took three of the last five dances, but Houston won the most recent jig. Regular season records, both teams are pretty neck and neck, hovering right around the .500 line.
If we peek at their recent performances, the Reds have been struggling a bit, with losses outweighing wins. Conversely, the Astros have seen better times but clinical clean up against the Reds isn't to be dismissed lightly.
Now for the million-dollar question, folks. Who's going to steal the victory today? I'm going to stick my neck out on this one:
