Alright sports fans, buckle up because it's the Miami Marlins going up against the Chicago White Sox at the Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. And boy, do the Sox need a win under their belt, their record leaving much to be desired with a paltry 10-28 showing this season; admittedly, the Marlins aren't doing much better at 14-22.
Starting off with our pitching prospects, the Marlins seem to have the slight upper hand. They're sending Max Meyer to the mound - decent guy, racked up a 3.99 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and has been striking out hitters at a pace of 11.0 K/9 across his 7 appearances this season. Comparatively, it's Bryse Wilson for the Sox whose season stats are, let's say, far from impressive; a 6.06 ERA and 2.07 WHIP, that's a tough pill to swallow.
Moving onto the big cats on the field, for the Marlins we've got Dane Myers who's been swinging a fiery bat owning a .345 average and 12 RBIs. Then there's Kyle Stowers with a .319 average and 21 RBIs. For the pale hosed - Luis Robert Jr. has a low batting average but makes up with speed, raking up 14 stolen bases.
From a historical perspective, the Marlins have been swimming just a tad better when paired against the White Sox with 3 wins out of the last 5 meetups; mostly close games though.
Just glancing at the recent games, both teams seem to be having a tough time with more losses than wins. Except the Sox - they're having a downright unpleasant time with a string of bad losses.
So, crunching these numbers, I'm going to pencil in a win for the Miami Marlins. Based on recent form, skill levels, and past matchups, I reckon the game will be close, but the Marlins swimming away by a nose, or rather a fin.
Albert’s Prediction: Miami Marlins by 2
