My Prediction
New York Yankees by 3Slide your sun visors down because we have a blazer of a matchup tonight, folks. The New York Yankees are set to take the field in Oakland, California against the Athletics. Now, with the park factor of the Oakland Coliseum coming into play, batters might struggle a touch, so it's going to be quite the showdown for our hurlers on the mound.
Speaking of which, Yankees will have Carlos Rodon slinging the old horsehide around tonight. An impressive Whip-Whap-Wallop, as I like to call his 3.03 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 10.8 K/9. Wow! That's sizzling statistics in anyone's book. Sears will be on the hill for the Athletics. Did a commendable job so far this season about the same as Rodon sans the K/9. He's at a respectable 7.5.
Yankees got quite an ensemble of stalwarts with Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt leading the roster. Judge is on fire with a .423 average and 16 Ribbies while Goldschmidt is not looking too shabby at .346. Grisham and Wells too have had their moments. The A’s aren't left far behind with Jacob Wilson and Miguel Andujar leading their offensive charge. Wilson been knocking the ball around the park with a .349 average while Andujar is hitting a cool .314.
Look at the past and seems like the Yankees have a bit of an edge. The Athletics got outscored quite heavily with the recent 10-2 beating standing out like a black thumb. If old clashes are any indicator, Yankees seem to have a bit of an edge.
Both teams have been somewhat neck and neck in terms of regular season records with the Yankees at 21-16 and A's trailing slightly at 20-18. The recent score sheets suggest a bit of a downward slide for Athletics and a slight bounce for the Yankees.
