Get ready to be dazzled, my fine baseball compadres. The Miami Marlins are dashing over to Citi Field, where the New York Mets are readying their bats. Citi Field, a humble abode for a pinch of curveballs here and there, isn't exactly a slugger's paradise, so that could potentially dull the edge for the home side.
Now, the man in the hot seat for the Marlins is Max Meyer. This season, he's been doing a decent job on the mound with a 3.21 ERA and improvements from his questionable foray last season. The Mets, on the other hand, have Tylor Megill warming up. This guy's doing sterling work this season, showing a remarkable 0.89 ERA.
When it comes to brawn, the Marlins have Dane Myers, Griffin Conine, and Matt Mervis to bring some beef to the event. Myers batting a 0.320 and Mervis with his home runs could make it interesting. But, wait! Don't break out into a celebratory jig just yet, Marlins fans.
The Mets have got some heavy hitters, too. No, really! Pete Alonso boasts a 0.333 batting average and 15 RBIs in his kitty. Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo aren't exactly warming benches either.
If we swivel our heads back to the past, the Marlins and Mets played tug of war plenty of times. Although the Mets seems to have asserted dominance, having taken the more recent round of matches.
Regular seasons scream volumes, don't they? It's looking bleaker for the Marlins with 5 wins and 6 losses, while the Mets stroll with 8 wins and a paltry 3 losses.
In the rear-view mirror, the Marlins got a touch of cruelty from both the Mets and the Braves. We don't talk about that 10-0 loss, do we, Marlins fans? As opposed to that, the last few days have been something resembling a picnic for the Mets basking in the glory of a winning streak.
So with a heavy heart full of remorse, and a belly full of too many hot dogs, here's my prediction, brace yourselves.
