Arizona Diamondbacks by 2
Look, folks, I mean... er... people, we've got a real contest on our hands. The Baltimore Orioles and the Arizona Diamondbacks are set to go head to head again at the hitters' paradise, Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
While neither team is posting record-breaking regular season totals, the Diamondbacks and Orioles are floating around with records of 6-6 and 5-7 respectfully. It's proving to be a heavyweight bout of mediocrity right now.
On the mound for the Orioles, we have Dean Kremer. Dean is showing a bit of a performance dip compared to last season recording a 6.85 ERA in 2 appearances, a jump from 4.178 last year. The striking out of folks is also down a bit. Not a confidence booster, I must say.
For the Diamondbacks, they'll be backing Brandon Pfaadt, who's off to a rocky start this season. His 5.25 ERA and 6.8 K/9 is not promising, however, compared to Kremer's figures, it appears Brandon is the lesser of two evils.
As for who's performing at the plate, the Orioles’ Ramon Urias, Ryan Mountcastle, and Cedric Mullins are showing some flash with notably impressive batting averages, with Mullins separately showcasing a pinch of power and speed. The Diamondbacks counter with Pavin Smith and his smoking hot .360 batting average, while Alek Thomas and Geraldo Perdomo have been chipping in with solid plate appearances and some nice RBI totals.
Looking at the history between these two teams, it's been a fairly tight affair. Two wins each in the last five games, however, the Diamondbacks did take the last encounter.
The Orioles recent results have been a mixed bag to say the least, with just as many wins as losses. The Diamondbacks have fared similarly, having recently lost two out of three games to Washington.
Taking all this into account, while neither the Orioles nor the Diamondbacks are singing a winning song, the combination of being at home, at Chase Field, and the Pfaadt vs. Kremer match-up seems to tilt the balance in Arizona's favor.
